I am wondering if games made for Windows XP will be compatible for Windows Vista.

Will Windows Vista Be Backwards Compatible.
Depends, the majority of most games that were designed for Windows XP will run just fine on Windows Vista. Some of course will possibly require updating also, it depends on the platform you plan on running the game on, if you decide to run it on Windows Vista x64, then you might possibly run into compatibility problems. You also have the option of running in compatibility mode. But its best you get in contact with the developer of your favorite games about compatibility with Windows Vista. -- -- Andre Windows Connected | http://www.windowsconnected.com Extended64 | http://www.extended64.com Blog | http://www.extended64.com/blogs/andre http://spaces.msn.com/members/adacosta

Dan; Probably yes, but there are always exceptions. Contact the game manufacturer for details on Vista compatibility with their product.
If you have specific games in mind, post the titles here and someone may be able to confirm whether the game works their Vista build.
In any event, what works today, may not on the release version and vice versa.

Hey Dan,
yeah the vast majority should still work fine, there are also Windows 98/ME, 2000, XPSP2 and Server 2003 compatability modes to help with the few that dont.

Eventhough it's no guarantee, you could post the games you are interested in and who knows a person with access to that game and Vista might test it for you...
So if you have any games at all you are interested in - just ask :)
In addition to the above you can surely contact the game vendor directly and see what they say. A lot of game manufacturers have already comitted to Windows Vista (no surprised) when it is final - so don't expect support for Vista related questions untill it has gone gold / RTM. Hence my initial offer of asking the community :)
Hope this helps.
With kind regards, Aprazeth
